Understand your skin tone

Monochromatic Colors

Match like with like. Monochromatic colours are different shades of a single colour or hue. For example, matching a light blue with a dark blue. This is a simple and safe way to colour match.

Complimentary Colors

Use opposite colours to look attractive. For example, orange with blue, yellow with violet, and red with green are examples of colours that contrast or intensify one another. However, too much can prove to be an eyesore, so applying complimentary colours to accessories may be a more favourable look.

Analagous Colors
Apply a more harmonious look with closely related colours. These colours are also considered to be neighbours on the colour wheel. Examples are purple with blue or gold, orange, with yellow.

Triad Colors

Apply three colours that are 120 degrees apart on the colour wheel. For example, primary colours, like red, blue with yellow are examples of triad colours. A secondary grouping is purple, orange and green. These colours are often loud, so to subdue them, consider applying less intense versions of these shades.

Neutral Colors

Neutral colours are the safest way to match. White, black, grey and brown are examples of neutral colours. These colours look nice on mostly anyone. Black has the most slimming effect. However, you’re staying within the safest colour palette. You can mix neutrals with other colours which has the ability to highlight other colours.

Choosing the right colours is important as it transforms the way you look without applying additional make-up or having an outsanding hair-do. Paying more attention to your choice of colours will result in a more attractive you.
