THE PROBLEM WITH COMMERCIAL FROZEN GARLIC BREAD

Have you been in a situation where you craved for frozen garlic bread to go with a nice hot steaming cup of soup or instant pizza? It’s convenient to grill frozen garlic bread in the oven and hey presto! You get warm garlic buttery bread in a matter of minutes.

Wait till you scrutinise the ingredients found in your favourite frozen garlic bread. Here is a list of ingredients listed on the wrapper of a Super Value Garlic Bread from Walmart  :

Woah ho! Dough conditioners? A string of preservatives, dried garlic, artificial flavours, colouring,  all sorts of acids….First and foremost, we won’t know if these ingredients do harm to our health in the long run.

Instead of going for the convenient short-cut option, why not prepare fuss-free, fresh, healthy garlic bread as a snack or side dish for yourself and your family?

You will need fresh sourdough, margarine and four cloves of garlic.

Melt margarine in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped garlic and lightly fry them. Add 4 thinly sliced sourdough bread in the pan and lightly brown the slices on both sides. Remove sliced bread and serve on a plate. Top each slice of bread with garlic from the pan. Garnish with chopped parsley.

The result is tasty home-made buttery or in this case margarine garlic bread that melts in the mouth.
