I don’t sink my teeth into burgers often but when my partner suggested we try tuna burger at Williams Burger Days, I didn’t think twice about making a trip to the restaurant.
Williams Burger Days is tucked in a corner of Westfield’s food court on Level 5. The restaurant is spacious enough to seat a fair number of patrons of a wide age range. The overall joint has a minimalist look, wearing light brownish yellow as its predominant colour, a choice that connotes down to earth design without the frills. It also symbolises an eatery that serves organic food and supports sustainable farming and fishing practices. A feature of the restaurant is its rustic ceiling beams that not only provide aesthetic appeal but also exude the feeling of hominess.
Selection of Food
Williams Burgers serves burger patties prepared from pasture-raised beef and sustainable yellowfin tuna. The establishment offers 15 kinds of burgers ranging from beef, chicken, fish and vegan. It also serves salads and a wide choice of sides such as cheesy chips, onions rings, corn fritters and charred broccoli. It boasts a variety of shakes among other drinks.
Portion and taste
We ordered the yellowfin tuna burger and Williams Skin-On Chips. The tuna burger came with native BBQ sauce, iceberg, cheddar, pickles and mayonnaise. The sesame topped bun was soft and went well with the juicy and tasty yellowfin tuna. I literally sank my teeth into the well-constructed burger. The juicy patty itself had a depth of flavour which was rich and palatable at every bite. Combined with the native BBQ sauce and the crunch of the lettuce, the burger on the whole was tantalizing to the palate. The generous and tender tuna patty lifted the whole burger eating experience to a whole new level.
I recommend Williams Skin-On chips as well. Light golden brown, they are chunky and flavourful – crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. With each bite, I kept wanting more till the last chip was demolished, never mind the calorie overload then.
Another item that is worth trying is Williams Chocolate Shake, made from real chocolate. Interestingly, the chocolate is shaven from a large block that sat resplendently on the long counter. Every sip was heavenly. The chocolate shake was thick, rich and satisfying till the last drop.
Cost
At A$18, the cost of the tuna burger is undeniably steep. However, it was worth every cent, as tuna burgers are not usually served in ordinary burger joints. The depth of flavour of the patty combined with the delicious BBQ sauce, rich cheddar cheese and fresh, crunchy lettuce on fresh, soft sesame seed bun made up for the pricey item.
The chips were just nice in terms of portion if you’ve not a big eater. They can be sufficiently shared between two people. Each bowl of chips cost A$4.50
The to-die-for chocolate shake cost A$8 per cup. Although it is pricey for a cup that is too small for a chocolate lover like me, every drop was worth it.
Verdict
I give a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars for Williams Burger Days for its ambience, taste of food and quality. I would definitely come back to this joint when I’m in town and scope out its mushroom and Paremsan burger. And of course I will take the chance to savour the divine chocolate shake.
Williams also gets a high rating because I have had a good experience, not only in regards to the taste and quality of food but also because of its personable and friendly staff. One of its staff ran after me after I left the joint to return my phone which I had left behind. I am in deep gratitude for this honest staff. Unfortunately I didn’t catch his name in the midst of the confusion and relief.
Williams Burger Days is located at Level 5 Westfield Sydney NSW, Australia.
